Women’s Day, 9 August 2016

Die tema vir die dag was “The Beauty of a Woman”.

The Women’s Day celebration also gave us the opportunity to light a candle and paid tribute to those women who have passed on.  What a privilege it was to have especially remembered and honoured Sr Kate Steer, who, together with more than 20,000 women protested against the pass laws on 9 August 1956.

Dr Genine Josias, one of the KUIER magazine’s team members and who also works at the Mtutuzela Centre in Khayelitsha, shared some startling information of cases they witness on a daily basis at the centre.  Cases such as child abuse, elder abuse and survivors of rape.  She invited us to donate clothes, toiletries, etc to the centre and above all to remember those affected in our prayers.

This year’s celebration was also marked with;

  • lucky draws throughout the course of the morning,
  • the birthday celebration of twins, Dora Samuels and Johanna Smith
  • 3 women who won prizes for “Best Dressed / Outstanding Women”
  • and a goodie bag for all women present

Christian quotes for Women

A beautiful Woman:

Uses her lips for truth

Her voice for kindness,

Her ears for compassion,

Her hands for charity,

Her heart for love,

And those that don’t like her, she uses prayer.

Spreuke 31 vers 10

‘n Knap vrou is baie werd, baie meer as edelstene.
